CustomCrypto's Learn guides exist to help beginners understand cryptocurrency and practice trading without risking real money. This page explains who writes them, where our information comes from, and how we keep them accurate.

Who Writes These Guides

Every guide on this site is written and maintained in-house by the CustomCrypto team at CustomApps LLC, the independent studio that also builds the CustomCrypto app. There is no freelance pool, no syndicated content and no AI-generated filler published under a human byline. We do not invent author personas or credentials we do not have: the team byline is the honest description of who wrote the page, which is why you will not find a fabricated "senior analyst" profile attached to any article here.

We write for people who have never placed a trade. That shapes what gets cut as much as what gets kept - we would rather explain one mechanic properly than list ten you cannot yet use.

Where Our Numbers Come From

Live cryptocurrency prices in the app come from CoinGecko's public API. The historical prices behind the if I had invested calculator are different: they are a static dataset committed to this site, covering monthly closes from August 2017 onward. That dataset is refreshed periodically rather than continuously, so the most recent month it can price is fixed until we regenerate it. We would rather tell you that than imply the figure is live.

When a guide describes how a protocol, an exchange, a tax rule or a market mechanic works, we aim to reflect widely documented information and link to a primary source where one exists and genuinely helps. Crypto changes quickly and some of what is true today will not be true in a year, so we revisit guides as the space moves rather than treating a published date as the end of the work.

What We Will Not Publish

Some of the most-searched crypto content is content we have decided not to write, and the reasons matter more than the list:

• No price predictions or price targets. Nobody knows where any asset will trade, and a guide that pretends otherwise is entertainment wearing an education costume.
• No "best coin to buy" lists and no individual asset recommendations. We explain how to evaluate an asset; we do not tell you which one to hold.
• No trading signals, alerts or copy-trading. The app is a practice environment, not a tipping service.
• No yield, APY or return figures presented as something you can expect. Where a number appears in a calculator or a worked example it is an input we chose to illustrate the arithmetic, never a forecast.
• No paid placements. We have never accepted payment to feature, rank, review or recommend an exchange, a coin, a wallet or any other product, and we do not run affiliate links - there is not a single tracking or referral parameter on any outbound link on this site.

The Conflicts of Interest We Have

Disclosing the absence of paid placements is easy. These are the real ones, stated plainly:

We build the app these guides tell you to practise in. Almost every article ends by suggesting you try the concept in CustomCrypto, and we benefit when you download it. We think that is the right pedagogy - reading about position sizing teaches you very little until you have actually sized a position - but you should weigh the recommendation knowing who is making it.

The app earns money. CustomCrypto is free to download and carries no advertising in any tier, but an optional Premium upgrade costs $1.99 per month and funds development. Nothing in the Learn section is gated behind it.

We link to our own siblings. CustomApps LLC publishes several other apps, and where a guide mentions one - practising the move from a bank balance into a trade, for instance - that is a link to a product we also own. We say so in the text rather than dressing it up as an independent recommendation.

About the Calculators

The free calculators on this site are teaching tools, not professional software. Each one runs entirely in your browser: nothing you type is transmitted, stored or logged anywhere, and closing the tab discards it. They use standard formulas and show their working so you can check the arithmetic rather than trust the output.

They are also simplifications. Real trading involves fees that vary by venue and order type, slippage, partial fills and spreads that a clean formula cannot capture. The capital gains calculator deserves a sharper warning than the rest: it estimates a figure from rates you supply, tax law differs by country and by individual circumstance, it changes, and it is emphatically not tax advice. For anything that will appear on a real return, talk to a qualified tax professional.

Corrections, and How to Get One Made

Each guide carries a visible "last updated" date, and we revise content when the underlying facts change - when a network ships an upgrade, when a mechanic we described stops working that way, or when a figure we cite about our own app moves. The App Store rating quoted on this site is a good example: it has changed several times this year, and each time it did we corrected the site rather than leaving the flattering number up.

If you find something inaccurate, out of date or simply unclear, email info@customapps.us and tell us which page and which claim. We will check it against a source, fix it if you are right, and update the page's date. Reader corrections are the cheapest quality control we have and we would rather hear about a mistake than not.

A Simulator, Not a Broker - and Not Financial Advice

CustomCrypto is a paper trading simulator. Every trade in the app uses virtual money at real market prices. It is not an exchange, not a wallet, not a broker and not a custodian; no real cryptocurrency is ever bought, sold, held or transferred, and no real money moves. You cannot deposit into it and you cannot withdraw from it, because there is nothing to withdraw.

Nothing on this site or in the app is financial, investment, legal or tax advice, and nothing here is a solicitation to buy or sell any asset. Cryptocurrency is volatile and people lose real money in it routinely. The purpose of this site is to let you make your beginner mistakes somewhere they cost nothing. Do your own research before you risk anything real.

No Ads, No Tracking, No Sponsored Placements

This website serves no advertising and loads no third-party tracking, analytics or advertising scripts - not Google Analytics, not a pixel, not a tag manager. That is a verifiable claim rather than a promise: every script this site loads is served from this domain, and you can confirm it in your browser's network tab. The app stores your data on your device, requires no account, and does not ask for your email.
